One-to-one counselling allows people to explore issues in a safe, comfortable and confidential environment.
The Eating Issues Centre offers a range of options for counselling, including:
- Free face-to-face, phone or skype individual counselling
- Information about other counselling services available throughout the Queensland
How do I access counselling at The Eating Issues Centre?
You can call or email The Eating Issues Centre and make an initial appointment to discuss your situation and the options available.
At this initial appointment an Eating Issues Practitioner will ask you about your situation and give you information about the services we provide and also other treatment services available that may best meet your needs.
An initial appointment is free and generally runs for an hour.
There is no obligation to continue to access services at The Eating Issues Centre and we understand that it can be important to ‘shop around’ for the services and workers you feel will be most useful for you in your recovery journey. We acknowledge what a big step starting counselling can be and the courage it takes to approach a service for help.
Free individual counselling
We offer free confidential counselling to individuals on low income.
This is provided by TEIC Eating Issues Practitioners and student counsellors (Master of Counselling and Master of Social Work students). We experience high demand for our counselling service and at times there is a waitlist.
Referral to other counselling services
We can refer you to counsellors throughout Queensland that specialise in eating issues, including private counsellors that work within our centre.
